In Memory Of
Leola Irvin
1925 - 2022

Leola Irvin, age 97, beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, took her heavenly rest, surrounded by her loving family, on August 6, 2022 after a short illness.

She was born on July 27, 1925 in Burnt Corn, Alabama, to the union of the late James and Lorena Marshall.

Leola was employed for 22 years as a housekeeper. She was also an excellent cook whose specialties were peach cobbler, dressing, macaroni and cheese, homemade corn bread and sweet potato pie, all made from scratch. She attended Good Hope Baptist Church for 65 years, while serving on the usher board and head of the kitchen committee, she was known for wearing beautiful church hats. She loved her family and enjoyed attending family functions.

In addition to her parents, those that preceded her in death were her husband, Johnnie Irvin; sister-in-law, Carrie Benefield and brother-in-law, Silas Brown; her siblings, Clyde, Quincy, Edward, Willie James, Ezell, Benjamin, Fannie Mae, Lorena and Frezell.

She leaves cherishing her memory her devoted children, Carrie, Diane, Deborah, Elaine, Annette, Johnnie, Clyde and bonus son, Ted, with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends, Betty Hooks and Lorena Dollison.

The family of Leola Irvin would like to say thank you, for all of your prayers, loving thoughts, support, kindness and concern during the loss of our mother. Special thanks to Summa City Hospital Palliative Care Unit and special "family" in Room 309; and Pastor Jimmie K. Rodgers of Good Hope Baptist Church.

The family of Fannie Mae and Joseph McCorvey wishes to pay tribute to Our Dear Aunt, "may you take your rest with the Almighty. You were a source of care and comfort for us after the passing of our beloved mother and father. Over the years your phone calls and visits were a kindness, we will cherish always. To our family, in this time of mourning, take comfort that your mother was kind, gentle and a loving presence for our family. "Well done, good an faithful servant" Matthew 25. Thank you.

THE CHAIN
We knew little that morning
That God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
That day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
Your love is still our guide:
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again.
