In Memory Of
John Richard "Johnny" Barber
1956 - 2022

John R. Barber, 65 years old, passed away unexpectedly July 22, 2022.

He was born December 4, 1956 in Akron, Ohio to his parents Hobert and Hazel {Thrasher} Barber. John was preceded in death by both of his parents.

John lived his young life years in Goodyear Heights, and then became a student and resident of Tallmadge. Recently, he moved to Windham Township.

John will be sadly missed by his son Shane Barber, Shane’s fiancé Sherri, Grandson Dylan Barber and his best buddy-puppy dog “Daisy.” Older sister Bea Newman, Younger sister Bev (Clyde) Ball-this was something that John joked about, nieces, nephews, vending company associates and many, many friends.

John was known for his quick math skills and his funny wit. He enjoyed the vending machine life, casinos, stock car racing, derby cars, his houseboat on Dale Hollow Lake, being owner of The Grotto Restaurant, relaxing at his Kentucky farm and daily visits to McDonalds with Daisy for her cheeseburger happy meal.

Cremation has been done per John’s request. Ashes will be sprinkled locally, and also in his favorite state of Kentucky.
“A LITTLE BIT OF JOHN GOES A LONG WAY”

The family will be hosting a celebration of John’s life at Akron Turner Club, 547 Munroe Falls Rd. Tallmadge, OH 44278, on August 20th from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Memories and favorite and funny stories of John can be shared by all attending.

Donations can be made to Humane Society of Summit County and Haven for Pets of Summit County. Care and rescue of pets was very, very important to John.

"We thought of you today
but that is nothing new
We thought of you yesterday
And will tomorrow, too
We think of you in silence
And make no outward show
For what it meant to lost you
Only those who love you know
Remembering you is easy
We do it every day
It's the heartache of losing you
That will never go away"
