Gerry and her husband, Ronny, were avid Round and Western style square dancers for 32 years. They also clogged and line danced. She and Ronny were extensive travelers to 45 different states and really loved their time in Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand. Gerry enjoyed helping her husband manage Springlake Center Dance Hall for 13 years. Gerry was an amazing seamstress and knitter, making beautiful clothes, quilts, and blankets for her family. She even made scarves for the homeless each year. She also enjoyed painting and putting together puzzles.
Gerry is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Steadman; her daughter, Diane Kern; her son-in-law, David Kern; and many family members.
She is survived by her son, Ronald E. Steadman; grandchildren, Brian (April) Kern, Julie (Dante) Kern, Shelley (Bill) Reinacher, Tracy Steadman, Kelly Shied, and many great-grandchildren.
She will truly be missed by those who cherished their time with her and knew just how blessed they were to have her in their lives. She was the true picture of a mom and grandma who loved unconditionally and gave everything she had to her family. We will smile each and every day thinking of the wonderful memories we have with her. This is just goodbye for now. We will be reunited in Heaven when God calls us home. We love you!

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio, where Pastor Joel Cochran will celebrate Gerry's life.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, January 23, 2022 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.
Burial will take place on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron, Ohio.
