Thomas Michael Walsh, "Thom", age 82 of Akron, Ohio, died at his home on October 8, 2021.

He was born on February 6, 1939 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of the late Arthur and Helen (nee Jung) Walsh.

Thom was an honorably discharged US Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War, primarily in the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Thom was an electrical engineer and worked on automated systems. He loved golf, basketball and woodworking. Thom enjoyed special housing projects, there was always something going on at the house.

Survivors include his children, Brian (companion, Lori Harmon) and Joy Westbrook; his grandchildren, Shawnee (William) Harmon, Tyler (Britny) Lucas-Walsh, Michael Westbrook, Nolan Westbrook and Olivia Westbrook; his great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Alexander Lucas-Walsh and Amelia Harmon.

His siblings also survive, Donald Walsh and Teresa Fuller.

Other than his parents, Thom was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph, Robert and William Walsh, and Patricia Stathopoulos and Helen Somers.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44305.

Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Wounded Warriors in Thomas' memory.
