In Memory Of
Merlin Harold Bertschi
1943 - 2021

Merlin Harold Bertschi, age 77 of Akron passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2021. A lifelong resident of Akron, Merlin was born to the late Donald and Evelyn {Bascom} Bertschi.

In addition to his parents, Merlin was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth and son, Charles Eugene Bertschi.

Merlin's memory will live on in his beloved wife, Eileen {Willey} Bertschi; children Tim (Esther), Dan (Angela) and James (Anne) Bertschi; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother Ron (Janet); sister Gail (Paul) Muster.

Merlin attended Tallmadge High School class of 1963. He married his high school sweetheart in 1963 and started their family. Merlin began his trucking career working for Coca-Cola in Akron, continuing his career with P.I.E., and finally retiring from Roadway Trucking in 1999. Merlin was actively involved with the Akron Salvation Army, as a percussionist in the Citadel Band and also as a Scout Leader for their Boy Scout Troop for over 27 years. He really enjoyed being a part of any group where he could contribute his service and dedication. Merlin enjoyed telling jokes, playing pranks and telling "somewhat" true stories. He liked to collect many things. Merlin loved his brotherhood in the Teamsters Local Union #24 (active and retired over the years). Merlin and Eileen were approaching their 58th wedding anniversary. His antics and generous spirit will be always loved and forever missed.
