James (Jim) Robert Walker, age 84, born on January 23, 1937, and residing in Louisville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy L. (Schaeffer) Walker in 2018, after being married for 57 years. He was also predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Helen (Sands) Walker, and brothers, Winfield (Winnie) and Harry.

He is survived by his son, Michael J. Walker, husband of Christine, of Wadsworth, Ohio, and daughter Julie L. Freed, of Falmouth, Kentucky. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Madison (Walker) Hilston, wife of Tyler, of Dublin, Ohio. Other survivors include sister, Karen Blessing, wife of John of Reading, Pennsylvania, sister-in-law Brenda Walker (Winnie) of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jim graduated in 1955 from Reading Senior High School and then served in the Air Force. He worked at Branch Motors and Crompton and Knowles. He also worked part-time for the Reading Eagle Company. Jim lived most of his life as an East Reading guy and, after retiring, moved with Nancy to Ohio to stay close to his granddaughter as she grew. He was a true gentleman and faithfully cared for his wife during her years of illness. He loved sports, reading, Broadway shows, and playing cards and games with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him as he made friends wherever he went.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jim’s name to The Alsatian Independent Living Center, a part of St. Joseph’s Senior Living, 2300 Reno Drive, Louisville, OH 44641. Services will be private at the convenience of the family with Newcomer Funeral Home.
