Steve Beres, age 95, of Akron, Ohio, departed to be with Christ on July 17, 2021.

He was born on April 20, 1926 in Akron, the son of the late John and Mary (nee Batari) Beres.

Steve worked as a machinist and retired from Akromold after many years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and gardening, however, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Steve attended Hope Baptist Church and the Chapel, where he served the churches as a Deacon, usher and Sunday School Teacher.

Survivors include his two children, Mark Beres and Lauren (Matt) Zaubi; his grandchildren, Aaron (Kate) Zaubi, Sarah Zaubi and Megan Zaubi; his great-grandchild, Callum Zaubi. He is also survived by his brother, Edward (Hilda) Beres.

Other than his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Ruth E. Barath, whom he married on April 30, 1955, she pre-deceased him on March 9, 2018; his siblings, Andrew, Arthur, John and Joseph Beres, Irene Speece and Margaret Gabor.

The family wishes to specially thank Steve's caregiver, Kathy Mullins, for the loving and supportive care she gave to Steve.

Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM, where Pastors Matt Zaubi and Robert Kuhns will celebrate Steve's life.

Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
