Robert D. Swecker, "Bob", age 87 of Mogadore, Ohio, died on May 5, 2021 at Akron City Hospital.

He was born on July 29, 1933 in Adrian, West Virginia, the son of the late Walter K. and Dessie (nee Sharps) Swecker.

Bob was retired, after 41 years of service, as a Master Sergeant with the US Army National Guard.

He enjoyed his family time, his Harley and camping. Bob was also a member of the American Legion Post #777 in Greensburg, Ohio.

Survivors include his children, Phyllis (Mark) Madias, Tammy Carter, Vernon Fritz, Robert Leonard (Renee) Swecker, Kimberly Swecker, Melody Cole Chapman, David Cole and Byron Swecker; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Other than his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Gambol; and his brothers, James and William Swecker.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio, where Pastor Don Rohrbacher will celebrate Bob's life. Military honors will take place at the funeral home.

Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at the funeral home from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.

A special thank you to Vernon Fritz for taking good care of dad.

Bob will be buried with his wife at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio, privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Wounded Warriors.
