1981 - 2021

Matthew Allen Harold Applegate, 39, of Stow, passed away on February 25, 2021. He was born in Akron on September 24, 1981 and spent his career as an independent contractor. Matt loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing at the Mogadore Reservoir. He also enjoyed camping, cooking, and grilling out. Matt was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the Browns and Indians. Most of all, he loved just hanging out with friends and family.
Matt is now reunited with his mother, Tina McIntyre; grandparents, Betty Jones, George Applegate, Sheldon Brown and Clarence Brown; and cousin, Kimmy Hohmann.
He will be dearly missed by his father, Timothy Applegate (Sam); son, Brandon Applegate; sisters, Christina Garrison and Teira (Ernie) Sayre; brother, Timothy (Lauren) Applegate; grandmother, Donna Applegate; nieces and nephews, Calvin Alexander, Alexis Applegate, Devin Sayre, Jaydin Sayre, and Savannah Sayre; aunts, Kim Hohmann, Heather Applegate, and Donna Williams; uncles, Robert Hettick, Thomas Williams, and Adam (Bonnie) Shields; cousins, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Catherine, Sofia, Cody, Tevin, Dawson, Lucas, Matthew, and Dora; and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 4-6 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A private service will be held for immediate family members. Following the visitation, Matt's family invites everyone to continue celebrating his life at The Barberton Civitan Club, 44 10th St SW, Barberton.
