Allan Richard Schafer, "Dick", age 92 of Hartville, Ohio, died on February 5, 2021 at Altercare of Hartville.

He was born on October 19, 1928 in Wheeling, West Virginia, the son of Leonora (nee Murphy) Schafer.

Dick was an honorably discharged US Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

He was an inventory analyst for 36 years at BF Goodrich, retiring in 1986. Dick loved singing and playing country music. He was an avid guitar and fiddle player, playing in several venues throughout Akron. Dick was also an avid gun enthusiast.

Survivors include his only daughter, Melissa (Troy Clifford) Schafer; his companion, Mary Lou Hofeldt; his granddaughter, Kallie (Brad) Bishop; his great-granddaughter, Savannah Bishop; and Troy's daughter, Claire Clifford. He also has two nieces and three nephews that survive as well.

Other than his mother, Dick was preceded in death by his brothers, Mike Short and Jeff Short.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron.

Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM and 5:00 -7:00 PM.

Mr. Schafer will be buried in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors.
