In Memory Of
Carole Lynne King
1940 - 2021

On January 4th 2021, Carole Lynne King left us unexpectedly while surrounded by her loving family. Carole was born to Kenneth and Irene Sherbondy on February 10th, 1940 on “Sherbondy Hill” in Akron. She was the widow of Richard King who passed on March 18, 2004, they lived together on Alfred Road for 39 years. There they raised three children, Susan, Eric and Sheryl. Carole will be remembered as a wonderful sister, aunt, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always lovingly involved in the lives of her family members.
In her earlier years, Carole enjoyed playing on bowling leagues an up until last year she regularly met her friends for a weekly game of Hand and Foot. In her spare time she lent her crocheting skills to “The Giving Doll” chapter in Norton where she loved to make dolls for children in need of a friend to hold.
Carole was always a fan of sports. Whether it was a game featuring one of her grandchildren, The Cleveland Indians, The Ohio State Buckeyes or The Cleveland Browns, she would be rooting and cheering from the sideline or her easy chair.
Above all, Carole loved the Lord and was a member of Maranatha Bible Church in Akron and where she also attended the SALT Adult Bible Fellowship class. She loved showing the love of the Lord by baking for events and rocking little ones in the church nursery. She also attended the Wadsworth Bible Study Fellowship and was a frequent visitor of the Wadsworth Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bingo.
Carole is survived by her sister Lois Sherbondy and sister-in-law Kay Sherbondy. Children: Susan Warner (Steve) of Uniontown, Eric King (Beth Mann) of Strasburg and Sheryl Wichterman (Neil) of Wadsworth. Grandchildren: Steven Warner (Nicholette), Megan Warner, Alaina Lingenhoel (Joshua), Nathan Wichterman (Bridget Cooper), Joel Wichterman, and Abigail Wichterman. Great grandchildren: Lucille and Franklin Warner. Her loyal dog Bennie. And many nieces and nephews.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard “Dick” King, brother Kenneth Sherbondy, sister Marilyn Rediger, daughter- in- law Tracie King, as well as grandsons Zachary and Joseph Warner.
The Celebration of Life Service in Carole’s honor will be held at 1:00 p.m on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Maranatha Bible Church, 1424 Killian Rd., Akron OH 44312.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
