In Memory Of
Jesse R. Shaw, Jr.
1940 - 2020

Jesse R. Shaw, Jr., 80, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. He was born to parents Jesse Sr. and Mary Shaw of Hartville, Ohio.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Jason Shaw, Jeremy (Dianna) Shaw, Chrissy (Shaw) Lotter, Scott (Shaw) Reed, Glenn (Junior) Hahn Jr, Gena Hahn. Grandchildren: Teonna, Breanna, Julianna, April, Chase, Justin, Gwen, and four great-grandchildren.

He is survived by sister Karen and brother Ray.

Jesse Shaw lived a full 80 years of life. He has been a dedicated family man, devoted husband (Marilyn & Joyce), avid outdoorsman, and an inspiration to so many.

Jesse had a long career in the Akron tire/rubber industry working at Patch Rubber Co.,General Tire Co. and Monarch Tire Co. After retiring, he would venture to the hills of southern Ohio and find the most pristine of properties to reside on. The outdoors always drew him in and that is where enjoyment was found. While spending decades in the hills, "The old man in the hills", as he signed his letters, consumed his time hunting, fishing, timber cutting, ATVing, only to name a few of the items in the active lifestyle. Living this life of solitude, Jesse would always make time for family and friends that would visit, stopping his daily scheduled itinerary, and providing superior hospitality. In not being a man of many words, he would listen to anybody talk for days, all the while enjoying and appreciating the company.

Things would slow down for Jesse in the last few years as his medical needs would require more attention. Though his lifestyle turned more sedentary, he continued to make the most of it, sometimes too much. There is yet a person to recall a time that Jesse had complained of his circumstance, as knowing him, he carried great optimism. His optimism would allow him to believe in his return to his barn building, tree cutting, active environment, where he was truly at home. "It's great making your dreams come true, but even greater to dream bigger!" - Jesse Shaw

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305 from 12pm-2pm with a funeral service at 2pm. He will be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park.
