This world lost a very special person, who was loved by all who knew him, on July 26, 2020. Gerald “Jerry” F. Wagner, Sr., of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away peacefully at his residence. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Born on November 8, 1926 in Akron, Jerry was the son of the late Casper and Ethel (Arnold) Wagner. He was employed for many years and retired from the Albrecht Grocery Company. Jerry was a United States Army and Air Force Veteran, and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, he also served during the Korean Conflict.

Jerry was an active member of St. Eugene Church of Cuyahoga Falls, loved singing in the choir and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, traveling in his motor home, and visiting the contiguous United States, plus Alaska and Canada. He was a huge Cleveland sports fan and loved watching the Browns, Indians, and Cavs. Jerry was an avid card player, his favorites being euchre and cribbage. He also had many other hobbies including jigsaw puzzles, bingo, bowling, golf, horseshoes, and fishing.

He was a beloved husband preceded in death by Anne (Getzinger) Wagner, and Mildred June (Shook), siblings Bernie, Bud, Al, Carl, Arnold, Mary, twin brother Gene, Richard, John, and Thomas, and daughter-in-law Phyllis Wagner. Jerry is survived by his sister Betty Bergdorf of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sons Jerry, Jr. (Joan) and Chuck (Carrie); grandchildren Adam, Chris, Chase, and Clare.
