Jerry M. Whitis, 76, of Stow, OH, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. He was born on November 24, 1942 to parents William and Eva Mae Whitis in Somerset, KY.

Jerry was very proud to serve his country as a Navy Veteran. He liked to stay active and really enjoyed going to church, bowling, playing the banjo, playing the guitar and singing. He had the ability to make friends wherever he would go, and was a people-person. Nobody was a stranger to Jerry. He also loved his family and adored his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, Connie of 25 years, sisters Gladys and Maxine, brothers Russell, Chapen, and Verl.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Jerry Whitis and Jill (Adam) Butts; grandchildren Kyla and Kennedy; step-children Marlene, Mark, Melinda, Brenda, and David; step-grandchildren; David Jr., Gabrielle and Alexandra; sister, Ruby and brother Billy.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 12pm-2pm followed by a service at 2pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, OH.
