Norma J. Burwell, 87, passed on August 2, 2019 at St. Luke's Community Retirement Center in North Canton. Born in Akron, she grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana before returning to Akron, her last residence being the Villas of Marian Park. Norma retired as both a waitress and home health aide. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Kenmore. She enjoyed all church activities and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her mother, Leona (Laughlin) Jackson; brothers, William, Edward and Thomas Marshall. She will be sadly missed by her children, Anna Westfall, Terry (Brenda) Burwell, David (Karen) Burwell, Gary Dean (Christine) Burwell, Rodney (Danita) Burwell; grandchildren, Adam, Emily, Sean, Diana, Anthony, Andrew, Austin, Destiny, Joshua and Brian; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Lea Treen, Ronald Marshall, Samuel Marshall, Judi Marshall; many extended family members in Ohio and West Virginia.
The memorial service will take place Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Kenmore, 2330 East Ave, Akron at 11 a.m., with Pastor Joe Grimaldi officiating. A church luncheon will immediately follow the service. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Norma's name to the First Baptist Church of Kenmore. Interment will be private at a later date.
