Harold Dean Stewart, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 90 on May 11, 2019. Harold was born October 14, 1928 in Akron, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Nellie Stewart. Harold is survived by his dear wife of 68 years, Norma; brother, Robert (Linda); son, Mark (Ann); daughter, Jill (Douglas) Holroyd; grandchildren, Veronica, Jessica, Rachel, Nicholas, Mallory and Taylor; great-granddaughter, Jamison; step-grandchildren, Josh, Kelly and Jennifer; step-great grandchildren, Gianni and Mia.

Harold graduated from East High School in 1946 and left five days later for the Navy. After being honorably discharged, he worked for the Erie Railroad for 14 years. He then worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 27 years, working in different positions in the Traffic Department, including a promotion to the Topeka, KS Goodyear Plant and Warehouse as Manager of Transportation. Harold returned to Akron as Manager of Transportation Analysis until his retirement in 1989.

Harold loved woodcarving, stained glass and oil painting. His oil paintings have adorned the walls of his family members for many years. He also loved woodworking and construction with his son Mark. Harold was known for his dedication to his family, his commitment to the church and his kind compassionate spirit.

He attended Goodyear Heights Community Church for many years and was president of the congregation and Sunday School superintendent and teacher. Harold and Norma have long been active members of First Baptist Church of Tallmadge.

Harold is lovingly and forever remembered by his dear wife and family. He said it best: "I have had a wonderful life and worked with many people that have been a blessing to me".

A funeral service and Celebration of Harold's life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH at 10:00 a.m., immediately followed by a lunch served at First Baptist Church of Tallmadge. A private family interment will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park. Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, May 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
