He was born on March 28, 1936 in Rootstown, Ohio, the son of the late Robert and Agnes (nee Knoch) Mehling.
Larry was an honorably discharged US Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
He worked and retired from RB&W located in Kent. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, baseball, golfing, fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Margie Garl, whom he married on December 26, 1964; his children, Jeffrey Mehling and Deborah "Debbie" Harvey; his grandchildren, Amanda (Michael "Mike" Klem) Harvey, Amber Harvey, Jaclyn Harvey, and Andrew (Bryce Wiley) Myers; two great-grandchildren, Paige and Samuel Klem. His sister, Georgia (Leroy) Smith, and several nieces and nephews also survives.
Other than his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his siblings, Fred, Frank, Eugene Mehling, Alma Fassnacht, and Dorothy Huff.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio.
Family and friends may visit from 3:00 - 5:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
