In Memory Of
Robert G. Davis
1930 - 2019
Robert G. Davis, 88, of Akron, passed peacefully at home with his loving wife at his side on January 28, 2019. Bob was born on December 2, 1930 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to the late Edward and Maud Davis. He attended Altoona High School prior to joining the US Army. He proudly served his country in the Korean War and in Japan, where he met his wife of 63 years.
Bob worked at McNeil in Akron as a machinist until they closed their machine shop in the early 80's. He was the owner of American Painting Company until his retirement.
He spent his golden years manicuring the grounds at Firestone Country Club. His greatest pleasure was sitting in his backyard watching the birds feed at the many bird feeders he placed in his yard.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his siblings, Elizabeth (Raymond) Degenhart, Alice (Court) Sanders, Cecelia (Thomas) Forbes, Catherine (Erb) Tipton, Virginia Davis, Thomas (Ruth) Davis, Francis (Glenna) Davis, David Davis, Dorothy Davis, Mary Margaret Davis, Richard Davis, and May Davis.
Bob will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Teruko Davis; children, Edward Davis, Mary Kay (John) Chlebina, Frances Overbeck, and Joe (Mary) Davis; grandchildren, Autumn (Mark) Vanzant, Michelle Davis, Courtney (Yasha) Shahidi, Spencer Chlebina, Taylor Chlebina, Jack Overbeck, and Tyler Davis; great-grandson, Anthony Vanzant; and many nieces and nephews.
A private ceremony has taken place for the immediate family.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers from First Light and Summa Hospice for caring for Bob.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob's honor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org.
