Alice L. Burkholder, "GG", age 85 of Akron, Ohio, went to join her loving husband, Burkie, and her loving Lord on January 2, 2019 at The Heritage of Hudson.
She was born in Cuyahoga Falls on November 5, 1933, the daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy (nee Voltz) Gerry.
Alice packed peanut brittle for many years for Arnold's Peanut Brittle and Kellbran Candies until she was 80 years old. She loved being with her family, especially sitting by the pool with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for her family went above and beyond, she was a remarkable woman!
GG was a very devoted woman in her faith and was a longtime active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. She always extended her hand to help others.
Survivors include her daughters, Connie (Keith) Bowers, Cheryl (Terry) Hinkle, Denise (Gary) Greathouse, and Kim (Rich) Antal; her grandchildren, Hutch Bowers, Brandon (Kristin) Bowers, Brittany Conn, Tom (Stephanie) Hinkle, Steven (Amber) Saulic, Tara Saulic, and Trisha Saulic; her great grandchildren, Ethan, Madison, Alaina, Olivia, Grayson, Trevor, Thomas, Shelby, Sean, CJ, George, Macie, Jacob, Nathan, and Richie. Her siblings also survive, Tom Gerry, Vivian (Nick) Vanchoff, Kenneth (Donna) Gerry, and Dorothy (Ed) Nicely.
Other than her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Burkholder, "Burkie", on September 28, 2012; her two brothers, Richard and Donald Gerry.
There will be a Celebration of GG's Life which will take place at The Event Center, 2208 East Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44312 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Saturday, January 5, 2019.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Heritage of Hudson and Harbor Light Hospice for their tender care of their mother and grandmother, GG.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron.
