In Loving Memory of William D. Haught 1931-2018

William "Bill" David Haught, 87, of Akron, Ohio passed peacefully on December 10, 2018 at Altercare of Hartville. He was born at Akron City Hospital on October 10, 1931 to the late Mildred and Warren Haught.

Bill joined the United States Army on October 13, 1948, just after turning 17 years old. On February 14, 1949 he sailed to Japan on the S.S. General Schenk. He served in the First Calvary before being transferred to the 24th Infantry Division. He then shipped to Korea and served until June of 1952. Bill was a proud Army veteran and gladly shared his life experiences with younger generations. He kept in touch with comrades as a member of KWVets Chapter 138. Bill, after returning home from the Army, worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Akron, Ohio. He was a dedicated employee and retired after 42 years of service in July 1994.

Bill is, and will always be, deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Roger) Booth; daughter-in-law, Linda Pittinger; sons, Henry (Coreene) Haught, Roger (Diane) Haught, Steven (Loretta) Haught and Joseph Haught; stepson, Timothy Cole; stepdaughters, Tammy Hunt (Kenny King), Bonnie Martter (Chad Gill), Joyce (Joe) Stone and Nancy (Mike) Gerbetz; siblings, Mildred Bailes and Ida (Paul) Mignano. Bill also had many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Haught; sons, Thomas Pittinger; grandson, David Pittinger; and recently, his dear brother Charles Haught.

Friends and family are welcome at Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio on Thursday, December 13, 2018. Calling hours are from Noon until 1pm with services immediately following. A celebration of life will be led by Pastor Mike Rybka of Community Church of Portage Lakes. Interment to follow at East Akron Cemetery in Akron, Ohio.

The family would especially like to thank the entire staff at Altercare of Hartville for caring for Bill for the last four years. You all went above and beyond to make him feel at home and loved. Thank you!
