David W. Richards III

David W. Richards III, 73, passed away on November 15, 2018 surrounded by his family after a 23 year long battle with Parkinson's. David served in the Army National Guard. He worked as a blacksmith at Ohio Edison for many years, where he eventually retired from.

David was a selfless person who was always putting others first and willing to help anyone. He was a devoted husband, father, son, and grandfather. He had a passion for cars that he carried throughout his life, owning 110 cars over the years and countless model cars as well. He enjoyed building street rods, going to car cruises, automotive art, and helping his friends in the car club with their vehicles. He would host the Low Buck Picnic at his residence every year, where friends and family would bring their vehicles to be judged and awarded trophies.

David is preceded in death by his parents, David and Elaine Richards; and daughter, Lisa Davis.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Susan Richards; children, Brian Richards, and Cindy (Jesse) Fisher; son-in-law, Mark Davis; brother, Richard Bane; and grandchildren, Nate Herbert, Aleshia, J.R., and Jake Fisher, and Summer Davis.

Friends and family are welcome to Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, to visit on Tuesday November 20, 2018 from 11am until 1pm. A funeral service will take place at 1pm. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
