James H. "Jim" Trissel
1922 - 2018

James H. Trissel, 96, of Akron, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 13, 2018. He was born on June 3, 1922 to the late Leroy and Gracemary Trissel in the Bronx, New York. Following high school, Jim enlisted in the Navy where he served in the South Pacific during WWII. As a torpedoman's mate third class, Jim was awarded the Victory Medal, Asiatic/Pacific Medal, American Area Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal. During his time in the service Jim became a proficient pugilist, developing a love of boxing that he carried for the rest of his life. Jim loved horse racing, casino gambling, and playing slow pitch softball. His greatest joy was ballroom dancing with his wife, Stella. He retired from J&L Specialty Steel.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Stella; sister, Gracemary Ley; brothers, Roy, Robert, and John.

Jim was a wonderful loving father, and will be dearly missed by his children, Mike (Sherri) Trissel, Scott (Cheryl) Trissel, Penny Roush, Ron (Darlene) Sabolesky, Susan (David) Semonin, John (Lynn) Sabolesky, and Annette Barbuto; brothers, Richard (Marlene) Trissel, and Gerry (Delores) Trissel; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends and family are welcome to Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, to visit on Sunday November 18, 2018 from 2pm until 4pm. Inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Friday November 23, 2018 at 12:30pm.
