In Memory Of
David R. Teeple Sr.
1936 - 2018

David didn’t have just one of something; he had many -- be it knick knacks, stories, or friends and family members who adored him.

A dedicated husband, father, papa, brother, and uncle, David passed away on November 6, 2018. His story began on February 22, 1936, in Akron, Ohio, born to May and Ralph Teeple. On June 16, 1956, he married the love of his life, Erma, and was dedicated to her for the entirety of their 62 years together. Soon to follow were his son, David Jr., and a loving daughter, Debra. His love for his four rambunctious grandsons was apparent through the life lessons he imparted on them and involvement in their lives. He took his role as the patriarch of his family seriously and offered not only guidance, but unwavering stability and love.

As a lover of boating, David spent many summer afternoons on the lake, waterskiing and bonding with family. Even though his side of the couch became well-worn in later years, David was an active man who continuously worked, whether for himself or someone else, and persevered past any obstacle. After retiring from a decades-long career at General Tire, David was a fixture at the local flea market. Amongst a vast collection of quirky, unique antiques, he also found countless like-minded chums who he looked forward to seeing each week.

His love for tinkering spanned from watches to lighters, eventually reserving an entire room to house his notably vast Zippo collection. David was also an avid Monopoly game collector--something that started small and turned into a hobby and fun family discussion, likely because he found them for only $1.00 at a yard sale.

David is survived by his wife, Erma (nee Kuhn); children, David (Lisa), Debbie (Kurt), grandchildren, Buddy (Liza), Adam (Shelby), Ryan (Ashley), and Sean; future great-grandson; brother, Leroy; sister, Wanda; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and furry grandchild Ebony.

Dave, Dad, Papa -- We are moved by the totality of your existence and your unquestionable love for our family. We will miss your warm smile, sense of humor, and entertaining storytelling. You will live on forever in our memories.

Friends and family are welcome to Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, on Saturday, November 10, 2018, to visit from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will take place at 1pm. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park.
