Loraine "Lu" Wilkinson
1953 - 2018

Loraine “Lu” Wilkinson, in fulfillment of Christ's promise, woke in heaven on September 14, 2018.

Lu was born in Belle, West Virginia on February 26, 1953 to the late Benjamin and Annabell Parker.

Lu accepted Jesus as her savior at the age of nine and was a longtime member at Hope Baptist Church (formerly Brown Street Baptist Church). She served faithfully in her role as a Deaconess and also answered her calling to teach children of all ages.

Lu loved to sew and crochet. She was also certified as an EMT and MA which contributed to her career in the home health field.

In addition to her parents, Lu was preceded in death by her brothers, James Parker and Ben Parker, and her in-laws, Jesse and Margaret Wilkinson. Lu is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Tim Wilkinson; sons, Tim (Angie)Wilkinson and Aaron (Liz) Wilkinson; niece, Sunny Starcher; sisters, Mary Parker, Peggy (Jim) Havens, and Ann Burtrand. She was known as “No-No” and grandma to Emma Wilkinson, Megan Wagner, Jesse Wilkinson, Tyler Seemann, Lauren Wilkinson, Noah Wilkinson, and Sydney Wilkinson and will be missed by all of her other family members as well as her close friends, Burdetta, Phil and Katie, and Bobbie.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 6pm-8pm at Hope Baptist Church 1822 Highview Ave, Akron, OH 44301. The funeral service will also be at Hope Baptist Church and will begin at 10am on Friday.

Donations can be made in Lu's memory to the youth camp fund at Hope Baptist Church.
