In Memory Of
Martha Jean Llewellyn
1929 - 2018

Martha "Jean" Llewellyn, 88, passed away August 14, 2018 at Stow Glen Retirement Village after years of "living her best" with Alzheimer's. She was born in Akron, Ohio, attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and grade school, until marrying and joining St. Matthew Catholic Church where she became an active parishioner. She lived a lifetime of service for others. Jean was the President of St. Matthew's Sanctuary Guild, served on the Council of Catholic Women, was instrumental in the creation of the Happy Holly Days Bazaar, was a Church Lectern, a member of Christ Child Society, St. Matthew Alter Society, and was a St. Matthew's Girl Scout leader for 8 years. She was also active with the Ellet PTA and was a volunteer for Ronald McDonald House and the Akron Civic Theater. She received numerous acknowledgements including Woman of the Year and St. Matthew Spark Plug award.

The role dearest to her heart was that of grandmother to Evan and Sara, who were her pride and joy. She was their biggest fan and attended all of their activities and became well known for her enthusiastic cheers. She loved baking, playing scrabble and was an avid card player. She played bridge with her high school class mates for almost 40 years and weekly euchre with her good friends.

In her lifetime she enriched the lives of all she touched. She continued to sparkle in her years at Stow Glen Retirement Village where she loved all and was loved by all. Thank you to the staff for making her feel special.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Thomas Llewellyn, and 3 brothers.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Ruth (Bill) Stanger; grandchildren, Evan and Sara Stanger; brother, Joseph (Patricia) Hudak; sister-in-law, Roberta Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

Family and friends will be received for visitation on Monday, August 20, 2018 from 9-11 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne St., Akron, OH 44312, where the Funeral Mass will begin at 11 am. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron, OH. Memorial donations could be made to the Girl Scouts of America at https://www.girlscouts.org/en/adults/donate.html.
