James S. D'Agostino Sr., 80, of Akron, passed away on July 18, 2018. He was born in Akron on February 2, 1938 to the late Nicola and Gilda D'Agostino. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from the United States Postal Service where he served as union president and was a member of the Teamsters. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Catholic Church. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting antiques, watching drag racing and getting together with old friends and co-workers for breakfast and lunch. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Mary (Tom) Holtz. He will be deeply missed by his loving sons, David (Venus) of Winterhaven, FL, James Jr. (Sandy) of Kent, Nick of Uniontown, and Joseph of Akron; longtime companion, Nancy Butler; grandchildren, Armani, Carmen, and Ryan (Kate) D'Agostino, Erica (Aaron) Carl, Amber (Chris) Heath, Dominick D'Agostino; great-grandchildren, Anna, Landon, Lathan, Lillian, and Madison; nieces, Lynn (Duane) Barbee, Michelle (Larry) Green, Regina (Randy) Redmond; many other relatives and friends. Family and friends may visit on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5-9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St., Akron. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Haven of Rest.
