Born at home on December 24, 1937, in Damascus, Ohio, she was the only daughter of late Mahlon F. and Hazel (Delzell) Griffith Sr. She grew up on the family farm with Guernsey dairy cattle and Morgan horses. Pat was a graduate of Goshen High School, was a 4-H Queen, and attended Marion College in Indiana. She taught Home Economics at Sebring High School, was a secretary at Hunt Valve in Salem, where she met Richard Manning, whom she married on April 18, 1964. She then worked as a secretary at Kaiser Refractory in Columbiana until she had her 2 children. During this time, she devoted her time as a mother and homemaker. Once they were in high school, she went to work as secretary to the Treasurer at Walsh Jesuit High School until she retired in 2004. She enjoyed sewing, hosting family and friends, and spending time with her 2 grandsons.
Pat has been a member of Damascus Friends Church, Barberton Evangelical Friends Church, and most recently attended the Chapel in Akron.
Pat is survived by her husband, Richard Manning of Norton; her daughter, Valerie (Brian) Shriber of Wooster, and grandsons Scott and Andrew; her son, Kevin Manning of Cuyahoga Falls; a brother, Mahlon Jr. (Betty) Griffith of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Wayne (Marie), Keith (Jane), Richard (Dorothy), and D. Eugene Griffith.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday April 13, 2018, at The Chapel in Akron with Pastor Van Epps and Brian Cowan officiating. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday prior to service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org/
A graveside burial service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at noon at Damascus Cemetery, with Pastor John Ryser officiating.
