In Memory Of
Ada Marie Dengate
1928 - 2018

Ada Marie Dengate, 90, of Barberton, passed peacefully on April 7, 2018. She was born on February 6, 1928 to the late Lloyd and Dora Gardner.

Ada Marie will be deeply missed by her children, Larry (Rose) Dengate, Linda (William) Guinter, Leigh (Joan) Dengate, and Loren (Diane) Dengate; sister, Pearl Patterson; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and the many friends she made at the Gilcrest Day Center and Copley Health Center.

In addition to her parents, Ada Marie was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd Dengate; sisters, Gertrude and Gladys; brothers, John, Lester "Lefty", and Meryle "Jimmy"; and her very special friend, Matthew.

Mom has left on her journey, she had us promise not to shed a tear, but to rejoice in her life and the time shared. This has been the hardest promise we have ever made as we try so desperately to fulfill this. Mom spent her life serving others either by taking care of the elderly (which was usually younger than she) or making hats, scarves, or quilts for others suffering with their own illness. She was a social butterfly and would stick up for others, especially as she aged. She would stand up to bullies. She was always just a phone call away and willing to talk about anything at all. She always would make you feel better after talking to her, even if she didn't fully understand what you were dealing with. Mom undeniably had her favorites, but she loved us all very much. You could not leave her or hang up from a call without her saying "love you, and give your other half a hug and kiss from me," and when you replied "I love you too," she would say "love you more!" well Mom, no, we love you more! Happy trails on your journey you have talked about for so long. You will be missed so very much!

Friends and family are welcome to Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, on Saturday April 14, 2018 to visit from 10am to 1pm. A funeral service will take place at Newcomer at 1pm.

Please consider a memorial donation to one of Ada Marie's favorite charities, St. Jude's Hospital, at www.stjude.org.
