Susan R. Watters

Susan R. Watters, 69, of Akron, OH passed away peacefully Nov. 21 at home, surrounded by loving family. She was preceded in death by husband, Junior Douglas Watters; father, Harry Gowin; mother, Jeanne Gowin (nee-Lee); step-father, Ted McFarren; and brother, David Gowin. She is survived by brothers, Keith McFarren (Linda) and Kevin McFarren (Terri); sons, Jimmy Watters (Lila) and David Watters (Nichole); daughter, Cheri Kelly (Tom); and grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicholas, Victoria, David, McKenzie, Madison and Kate.

Susan was born on April 13, 1946 in Akron, OH and graduated from Springfield High School in 1964. Susan was given the responsibility to care and provide for her children on her own after her husband died suddenly in 1979. This duty she carried out admirably, and was most proud of her children and grandchildren. Susan was a kind, generous and loving mother, daughter and friend, always nurturing, coaching and willing to help in any way she could. In 1978 Susan started at BF Goodrich in the Worker's Compensation Department. Taking evening classes, she earned a degree in Computer Science from Southern Ohio College. When Michelin bought the company in 1994 she was transferred to South Carolina. She retired in 2008 and returned to Akron to be near her family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday Dec. 1 from 4-7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Service to follow at 7pm. In keeping with Susan's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will have a private burial service. The family would like to give a special thanks to ClearPath Home Health and Hospice; with their love and support, a peaceful transition was made possible.
