Ernest Wayne Coffy
Ernest Wayne Coffy, 84, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015. He was born in Carrollton, Ohio, the son of the late Harold and Golda Coffy. He was a graduate of Ohio Northern School of Pharmacy in 1954 and served in the United States Army from 1954 - 1956. He practiced Pharmacy 40 years in the Akron area. He worked for Cub Foods in Dayton for 19 years and retired in 2010. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Temple where he was an usher. He was a former member and usher of Grace Baptist in Akron, Ohio. Ernie knew no stranger and was loved by all who knew him.
In additional to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Donna Deckman. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara Coffy; daughters, Cindy (Mark) Helsel, Stacy (Randy) Brentlinger; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Thompson; brothers, Earl (Jean) Coffy, Jack (Barbara) Coffy; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 8 from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 704 N. Firestone Blvd., Akron followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown, OH.
