Daniel F. Hartung
AKRON - Daniel F. Hartung, age 71, passed away on June 25, 2015 at home with his loving wife Sandy by his side and his beloved cat Cody. Born in Akron, Ohio, Dan worked for Akron Insulation and retired from Metro Regional Transit Authority in 2011 where he drove a bus. Dan graduated from Field High School in 1963. He spent his younger years living in Tarentum, PA. He was a member of the Akron FOPA and the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club Chapter IV. Dan was a very kind person and loved by everyone who knew him. He touched so many lives.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Q. and Margaret M. Hartung; brothers, Charles Hartung, Donald Hartung; and sisters, Irene Hartung and Sarah (Sally) Hartung. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 28 years, Sandra; brother, Raymond (Betty) Hartung; son, Robert Hartung and Robert's fiance Nikki Breyley; granddaughter, Brittany Hartung; his very special cousins, Patty (Ed) Shackle and Barbara (Jerry) Hart; sisters-in-law, Sally Walker and Bonnie Tomaiko; brother-in-law, James (Maureen) Orms; special nephews, Tim Tudor and Jerry Hartung; and many nieces and nephews, neighbors and his many friends.
Per Daniel's request there will be no services or calling hours. Cremation has taken place. Dan requested that there be a celebration of his life at Wolter Park Lodge (FOP Club), 2610 Ley Drive, Akron, OH 44319 (330) 733-3032 on Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 PM. Please join us in the celebration of Dan's life.
