Janice Y. Mathers
Janice Y. Mathers, 77, passed away after bravely battling breast cancer on March 27, 2015. She was born in Akron on October 27, 1937 to the late Robert and Kathleen Hine.
Janice will always be remembered for her outgoing personality. She was the life of the party and loved family gatherings. She was especially fond of Christmas and spent hours baking, decorating, and buying presents. Janice had a love of antiques and held a booth at the Hartville Flea Market where she made many friends. She could often be found scouting deals at flea markets and tag sales. She loved tap dancing and made lasting memories with her daughters and granddaughters.
Janice will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 60 years, Edward; children, Tracey (Linwood) Bermingham, George (Cindy) Mathers, and Michelle Mathers; brother, Robert Hine; sister, Lisa Hine; grandchildren, Julie (Robert) Dittman, Michael Gehring, and Jennifer Gehring; great-grandchildren, Emily Dittman, Kaitlyn Feller, and Allison Dittman; mother-in-law, Doris Mathers; sister-in-law, Linda Kronenthal; aunts, Laura Yuhas and Penny Poalson; uncle, A. Robert Sams; special cousin, Joanne Cabell. She also leaves her beloved dog, Woofie. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Aultman Hospital and especially Michelle McGee.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 11:30-1:30 followed by a 1:30 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
