In Memory Of
Doris Stewart
1934 - 2015

Doris J Stewart, 80, of, Brimfield, Ohio passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015. Doris was born in Tallmadge , Ohio on September 13, 1934 to the late Oliver and Ethel Keys.

Doris retired from Permco Inc. in Streetsboro, Ohio after 21 years of service. She was a member of the Brimfield Faith United Methodist Church, Red Hats, Brimfield Athletic Association and Card Club. In her free time, she enjoyed playing the piano, organ, playing bingo which helped to keep area churches in the black, and meeting with her childhood friends for lunch. Doris was the Brimfield's first softball commissioner where she helped form girls softball for Brimfield and Portage County. She was the first to help you but also the first to correct you. Doris had a unique courage and fighting spirit from her Irish/Cherokee heritage. She had a love of playing Uno and other card games and when it appeared she won too often she would reply my house, my table, my cards, my rules. Doris was always at her children's and grandchildren's school events and sporting activities, supporting, watching and coaching from the sidelines

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald of 61 years; three children, Donna, Dan and Doug Stewart; grandchildren, Derek and Dillon Parsons, Sam and Sandy Stewart and great grandchild, Ana Parsons; brothers, John (Debbie) Keys and Bob (Janet) Mace; sisters, Peg (Bob) Duffield and Anna Klose; daughter-in-law, Debbie Rose-Stewart; son-in-law, Bob Smith; adoptive son, Marcus Smith and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Bruce Gerlach, Dr. Melinda Phinney, Dr. Joseph Pietrolungo and Dr. Gary Williams and the nursing staff at Akron City Hospital and the staff at Brimfield Altercare that cared for Doris and her family.

In honoring Doris's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 10:30am at Brimfield Faith United Methodist Church, 1235 Tallmadge Rd. Kent Ohio 44240. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation or Akron City Palliative Care Unit.
