1947 - 2018

David L. Weidaw Sr., 71, of Hartville, passed suddenly on Saturday June 16, 2018. Dave graduated from Springfield High School and was an Akron resident for most of his life. After high school, Dave served in the US Army. After his service he married his wife, Linda (Harshbarger), who he spent 49 loving (ornery) years with. Years later their sons David and Jonathan were born, however over the years Dave and Linda raised and mentored many other children.

Dave worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance for 10 years, before starting his own business, Weidaw Insurance Agency, where he worked for over 40 years. He coached soccer for over 30 years in multiple school districts in both youth and high school levels.

Dave was a longtime member at Tallmadge Alliance Church. He worked as a counselor at Beulah Beach Church Camp and with the Summit County Jail Ministry throughout his life.

Dave was a member of the Hungarian Club, where he enjoyed playing cards. He enjoyed spending time with his friends anytime he could.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Lou Weidaw.

Dave will be deeply missed by his wife, Linda Weidaw; sons, David (Nikia Moore) Weidaw and Jonathan (Rachel) Weidaw; brother, Frank Weidaw; sister, Susan (Rachel Setree) Weidaw; mother-in-law, Norma Shanafelt; brother-in-law, Richard (Debbie) Harshbarger; sister-in-law, Cathy (Randy) Calvelli; grandchildren, Ava, Jonathan, Isabella, Phaedra, Cherokee, Sheyenne, Tayah, and Amya; and many longtime friends.

Friends and family are welcome to Tallmadge Alliance Church 1155 East Tallmadge Ave, Tallmadge, OH 44278 on Friday June 22, 2018 to visit from 5pm until 7pm. A memorial service will take place at 7pm. Inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
