He was born on May 29, 1943 in Welch, West Virginia, the son of the late James Everett and Virginia Faye (nee Hale) Haga.
After being stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Joe was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1965.
He worked with his brother at J D Tire in Akron for many years, and then with Zeigler Tire. Joe did many things, he loved to golf and after retiring in tire sales, he worked at Sycamore Golf Course, and did volunteer work at the Akron Food Bank.
Joe was a quiet, gentle man who gave freely to others. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, the former Janet Smith, whom he married on June 22, 1991; his children, Cheryl (Bob) Biasella, Mike Haga, and Jeffrey (Bridgett) Haga; his step-children, Darlene Morgan, and Chris (Pat) McAllister; his grandchildren, Stephen, Abbey, Ruby, Shaylei, Mykalei, Brandon, Josh, Katie, and Rusty; his great-grandchildren, Asher, Sarai, Maddie, Noah, Summer and April. Also surviving is his brother, Jim (Doreen) Haga and four nephews, Jason, Jeremy, Joshua, Jamie, and one niece, Deanna.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM, where Elder Ernie Tidwell will celebrate his life.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Akron-Canton Food Bank.
