He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Madeline White; his children, Cheryl Washington (Michael), Donald White Jr., Angela White, John White (Christine), Terena Jennings, and Donald Thomas.
Additionally, he is survived by his sisters, Grace Haslem, Dorothy Mitchell, and Doris Adams, and his brothers, Bishops’ Jesse White and Samuel White; he has nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was a life member of Hill’s Temple, First Born Church of the Living God for over 50 years. Donald White, Sr. served in the United States Army. He worked as the Chief Officer of Akron Parks Department, the Akron Police Department as a reserve for over 39 years, St. Thomas Hospital Security, B.F. Goodrich Security, and retired from the Akron Metro Transit Authority in 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, October 27, 2017, at Hill’s Temple, First Born Church of the Living God.
The viewing will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the church and interment will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Professional Services have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron.
