In Memory Of
Ross S. Smith
1926 - 2017

Ross S. Smith, 90, of Akron, went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2017. He was a proud WWII and Korean War veteran. He worked as a tool and die grinder at Goodyear Tire and Rubber for over 35 years before retiring in 1985. He loved the Lord, going to church, teaching Sunday school; and he played bass guitar in the church Praise and Worship team. He started every day reading and studying the bible in morning devotions.

Ross never knew a stranger, he loved everyone and everyone who knew him loved him. He was a generous and a fun-loving person known for his orneriness. While residing at Altercare, Ross had a gift to encourage the other residents to participate in activities and to engage in life again. He was affectionately known by the staff and residents as "Trouble."

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah (Barker) Smith; daughter Linda L. Schutz; parents, Maineard and Ruth Smith; brothers, Duane and Starley; and sister May.

Left to cherish his memory, he will be deeply missed by: son, Richard D. (Amelia) Smith (affectionately referred to by Ross as "Reverend Ricky Baby"); grandson, Brian R. Smith; granddaughter, Jodi L. Sarver; and special friend, Alvin Byler.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the Brimfield Altercare staff for their skills and loving care of our father (considered by dad to be his home).

Friends and family are welcome to Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305 on Monday September 18 from 5pm-7pm. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday September 19 at 10 am officiated by Rev. Richard D. Smith, LPCC. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made in Ross' honor to the One of a Kind Pet Shelter at www.oneofakindpets.com.
