William H. "Bud" Reed
1929 - 2017

William H. Reed, 87, of Akron, passed away June 24, 2017 surrounded by family. Bud was born in Coalport, Pennsylvania on August 24, 1929 to the late Violet and William L. Reed. Bud worked 28 1/2 years at Mohawk Rubber and retired from Kent State University after 15 years of service. He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, hunting and fishing, tractors, cars, NASCAR, music and collecting quarters for Reed Clan poker games.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his siblings, June, Edith, Phyllis, Clara, Otto, Gene and Elmer.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 68 years, Gladys; brothers, Charles and Sam (Donna); children, Neta Aronhalt, William E. (Mary), Robert E. (Connie) and Tammy; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Pebble Creek Nursing Home, Akron Summa Palliative Care, long-time friend and doctor, Michael Rich, and special nieces.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am. He will be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park.
