Thomas Luther Ward, "Tom", age 69 of Akron, Ohio, died on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 12:20 PM at Essex Nursing Home.

He was born on April 25, 1947 in Summersville, WV, the son of the late Marion Rollins and Erma Nell Goad Ward.

Tom was retired from Hygenic Corp. after 42 years of service. He loved playing his acoustic guitar and was a huge fan of Hank Williams. He loved the Grand Ole' Oprey. Tom spent years working on his "47 Chevy Fleetline that his brother gave to him.

Tom was a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was also faithful to his church, Calvary Gospel Temple.

Survivors include his wife, the former Harriet Frances Whitlatch, whom he married on December 20, 1969; his step-mother, Dorothy A. Ward; his two daughters, Rosemary (Anthony) Ward-Tuski and Bonnie (Christopher) Murphy; his grandchildren, Johnathan, Amber, and Lisa Anne. His brothers also survive, Austin Patrick (Christine) Ward, Daniel Lee (Martha) Ward, Norman Henry (Penny) Ward, and Joseph Zane (Paula) Ward; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents Thomas was preceded in death by two brothers, Timothy and Francis Ward.

Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 24, 2017.

Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM.

Mr. Ward will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Akron.
