During the war, he worked on Naval aircraft at Norfolk, Virginia and came to Akron in 1943. He began his career at BF Goodrich in 1943 and retired as the Executive Head of Maintenance in 1983. Everett obtained his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Akron in 1959. He also contracted and built houses in Akron, enjoying the last house as his home for 50 years. As a hobby, Everett obtained his pilot's license and he also enjoyed playing golf and taking many cruises, including around the world. He also enjoyed a second home in Sarasota for 30 years, traveling there and back many times a year. Everett was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Akron Baptist Temple. He had many friends at the Sons of Herman and the Moose Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James and sisters, Esther, Mildred and Eleanor.
He will be missed by his wife Betty; sons, Dennis and Larry Jones; grandson, Matthew; nephew, Pat Bruffey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 12 pm until time of funeral service at 2 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
