Janice Lynn Shriber

Born to Neil & Pat Proudfoot on 10/21/1955 in Akron, Ohio. She grew up in Tallmadge with 3 siblings, graduating from Tallmadge H.S.in 1974. She was active in 4H, band and her church. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron she taught at Tallmadge H.S. for 5 years. On 6/28/1980 she married her husband Brain at The Chapel, where they met. Once they had children she stayed home to focus on family and serving in the church. She coordinated the 0 - 24 mo. nurseries at The Chapel for a number of years. They moved to the Orrville area in 1993 and she served in her church and later became an advisor in 4H. As her children started high school she became the receptionist at the Orrville YMCA. A few years later she became the assistant to the treasurer at Green Local Schools in Smithville. After working 10 years she took an early medical retirement to manage the health issues of LAM disease. She enjoyed camping, sewing, gardening, and playing with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father Neil, mother Pat, and sister, Jennifer. She felt blessed to have been able to assist with the care of each one.

She is survived by her husband Brian, brother Michael (Cynthia) Proudfoot, brother Wayne (Sharon) Proudfoot, daughter Amanda (Alex) Pummell, son CPT Andrew Shriber, daughter Amy Shriber, and grandchildren Heidi Pummell, Gabriel Pummell, and Kennedy Jones.

Memorial services are Fri. 17that Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7605 Pleasant Home Road, Sterling, Ohio A 7:00 pm service and time following with the family. Sat. 18th at Newcomer funeral home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, Oh. Calling hours 2:00 - 3:00 pm service at 3:00. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the LAM foundation.
