1923 - 2017

Edward P. Taylor, 93, passed away January 12, 2017. He was born in Akron, OH, the son of Manning Z. and Mae I. Lockwood Taylor. He graduated in June 1941 from East High School and spent 3 years as an M.P.E.G. in the US Army during WWII. After the war, he returned to work at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. During his 41 years, he spent 9 years at Plant 1 in the tire curing dept. It was here that he met some of the greatest men in his life. He was one of the original "Ritter's All Stars." The next 28 years were spent in quality control of passenger tires at Plant 2. Here he was given many special assignments that culminated in his becoming Group Leader. After retiring in 1983, he and his wife, Dorothy, moved to the Myrtle Beach area of South Carolina, namely Little River, SC. He joined Bay Tree Golf Plantation and became active in the Bay Tree Men's Golf Assoc., becoming Director in 1989-90. Ed was a starter at a number of area golf clubs for many years. He met many old friends from Ohio in this position. At the age of 87, he became a published author in 2010 with a short biography, My Life, My Story.

Edward was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy; sister, Mary M. Pinkston; nephews, Joe Dunford Jr., Clark Dunford; and brothers-in-law, Joe Dunford Sr., Norm Porter. He is survived by sister-in-law, Betty Diehl Dunford Porter; nieces, Karen (David) Reese, Carol Pinkston Havard, Judith (James) Pinkston Brewer ; nephews, David (Kathy) Dunford Sr., Charles M. (Debra) Pinkston; a number of extremely talented great-nieces and nephews; and long-time friends, Helen and Bob Butler.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Brimfield Church of Christ.
