In Memory Of
Idabelle Kathryn Markley Grubb
1925 - 2016

Idabelle Kathryn Markley Grubb, 91, of Lyndhurst, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom she loved and served, on November 25, 2016.

She was born on May 13, 1925 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Samuel and Cordia Oaks. She was named after her grandmothers, Ida Brumbaugh Oaks and Belle Matthews Franks.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, the late Rev. Robert William Markley, Sr. Idabelle was a loving and faithful pastor’s wife serving alongside her husband in the following churches: Hanover, MI; Berrien Springs, MI; Alexandria, VA; Palmyra, PA; Norton, OH; Lyndhurst, OH; Coolville, OH; Parkersburg, WV; and, Reedsville, OH. She was a gracious, wise, kind and godly Christian woman who loved the people in each congregation. She was known for her faith in Jesus, her faithfulness in prayer and her love for reading God’s Word.

Idabelle loved people and she loved life. She was full of enthusiasm and brought a positive “can do” spirit to all she did – whether raising six children, working as a part-time “Kelly Girl”, serving as a librarian, or as a member of a community choir, craft or fitness group. She knew no strangers.

After the death of her husband, Robert Markley Sr., Idabelle moved to Palmyra, PA. There, as a widow, she married long-time family friend and widower, Samuel Grubb. She and Sam enjoyed several years together living at and involved in the lives of people and the activities of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home.

She is preceded in death by her second husband Sam Grubb, sister Betty Wainescott, brother Samuel Oaks and son Richard Markley.

Idabelle is survived by her son Robert (Janet) Markley, Jr. of Lewis Center, Ohio; her daughter Lynn (Frank) Timperio of Lyndhurst, Ohio; her daughter Linda McDonald of Atlanta, GA; her son Lloyd (Leigh Ann) Markley of Delaware, Ohio; her daughter Leila (Jim) Vidmar of Chesterland, Ohio; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Idabelle passed away in her daughter Lynn’s home, constantly surrounded by loving family, and cared for with dignity and respect by the staff of Faithful Companions and The Hospice of the Western Reserve. She was cremated according to her wishes and there will be a Memorial Service at the Edinburg Cemetery Chapel, Rootstown, Ohio, 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 7, 2017, in honor of her 92nd birthday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Palmyra Grace Brethren Church, Palmyra, PA.
