Richard E. Lehman, 91, of Tallmadge passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016. The son of Jacob and Veronna (Haas) Lehman was born on August 11, 1925 in Shelby Ohio. He served in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman during WWII. He also served as a Medic in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After an Honorable discharge in 1958, he became employed at Apple Creek State Hospital. In December 1970 he successfully passed the state examination for registered practical nurse and received his license. He received a score of 490. A score of 350 was passing.

In 1988 he retired from Apple Creek State Hospital as a supervisor. After retirement he enjoyed spending time walking, gardening and watching his favorite show "COPS". He also enjoyed spending 6 months in Florida during the winter, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, even going as far as riding the " Tower of Terror " at Disney World with them at the age of 78.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Lehman in 2004; brother, Louis Lehman; sister-in-law , Rose Lehman and great granddaughter Allison Renick.
Richard is survived by children Joan (Roger) Diehl, Stan (Roberta) Staten and Dave (Gaby) Staten; grandchildren, Renee (Jim) Renick, Dann (Sandy) Diehl, Pamela (Jorge) Gebert and Scott Staten; great grandchildren, Jacob Renick and fiance' Angela Thompson, Lucas Renick, Rachel Staten, Chris Jaquette and Jeff Jaquette; the family Yorkie,- Miyanni who he loved dearly.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44305. A funeral service will follow with Reverend Robert Hoffman officiating.

Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Akron City Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Richard's Honor.
