Steven Jay Soltas, Sr., age 73 of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls.
He was born on August 17, 1943 in Akron, the son of the late Alex and Ann Soltas.
Steve was a graduate of Garfield High School in 1962. Mr. Soltas then entered the US Navy and was honorably discharged after serving during the Vietnam War, he served on the USS Enterprise. He was retired from Chrysler Corp in Twinsburg after 42 years of service. He was a welder repairman.
Steve enjoyed building models, yard work, and restoring cars. He just loved to work.
Survivors include his wife, the former Gale R. Vance, whom he married on June 19, 1976; his children, Steven Jay (Kathryn) Soltas, Jr., Chantell (Tony) Oliver, Paul (Erica) Soltas, and Danny Leamen Johnson; his grandchildren, Cassidy, Carson, Christopher, Ashley, and Evan Soltas, Chase and Lexi Oliver, and Ava Johnson. Several nieces and nephews survive, especially Patrick Kuchinsky.
Other than his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his siblings, Diana Kuchinsky, Alex Soltas, and Richard Sladek.
A committal service will take place with military honors at a later date at Ohio National Reserve Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (the chapter of your choice).
