Roy Goforth, age 84 of Barberton, Ohio, transitioned into the loving arms of his Lord on August 17, 2016 at 3:47AM at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio.
He was born on May 31, 1932 in Friendsville, TN, the son of the late Eugene and Viola Crisp Goforth.
Roy was an honorably discharged US Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was an International Representative of the United Auto Workers and top bargainer in Detroit. He loved his God, family, country, union, and his dog, Rascal.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Wilkinson, whom he married on August 29, 2015; his children, Rhonda Blonay Goforth, Roy (Rhonda) Goforth, Gary (Julie) Goforth, Craig Stanley; his step-children, Timothy (Cindy) Carr, and Donna Walters; grandchildren, Timothy (Sharon) Goforth, Kevin (Kaitlyn) Sheridan, Kayla Sheridan, Brock, Lindsay, Joseph, Joshua, and Jacob Goforth; step-grandchildren, Ryan and Ross Carr, Nicholas and Stevie Derrick; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and Aalexah Sheridan, Ian and Christian Sheridan, Tim, Shawn and Alex Goforth. His siblings, Troy (Hope), Charles, and Marian "Sissy".
Other than his parents, Roy was preceded in death by the mother of his children, JoAnn Smith Goforth; his grandson, Kyle Sheridan; his siblings, Thelma, Lorraine, and Carl.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 5 PM, where family and friends may visit from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. To leave a special message for the family please visit www.NewcomerAkron.com
