Charles E. Pope, "Chuck", age 65 of Kent, Ohio, died on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 6:00 PM at the Hospice Care Center in Copley.
He was born on January 6, 1951 in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late Charles H. and Margaret R. Skinner Pope.
Chuck was a 1969 graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, and he also attended the University of Akron. He was recently retired after 29 years of service from Revlis Corp. as a barwell operator. He was vice president of the St. Vincent dePaul Society at his church, St. Joseph in Cuyahoga Falls where he was also a lector; Chuck was an avid and lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians, and he was a season ticket holder for the Akron Rubber Ducks; however his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife, the former Theresa A. Martin, whom he married on June 24, 1978; his only daughter, Kimberly A. (Jason) Roth; two granddaughers, Alyson K. and Kathryn E. Roth; one sister, Valerie Croghan; his wife's mother, Goldia Wright Martin; and one sister-in-law, Beverly Pope; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Other than his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, William R. Pope.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 1761 2nd Street, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221 on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM where Father Jared Orndorff will celebrate Chuck's life.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron.
In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the St. Vincent dePaul Society at St. Joseph Church, in his memory.
