Sebastian, Florida: Madalyn M. Cutright, 98, affectionately known as "Tootsie" to family and loved ones, passed away peacefully at Sebastian River Medical Center on January 14, 2016 after a short illness.
Madalyn was born in Dogway, West Virginia on November 9, 1917, the daughter of Henry and Velma (Mullins) Chaffin. She was married to Darrell N. Cutright and with their one son, Francis "Bud" Cutright moved to Akron, Ohio in 1953.
Determined to be either a nurse or a schoolteacher, she earned her high school diploma from Akron North High School. After one year of substituting in the Stow School System, she became a rookie kindergarten teacher at the age of 54 at Chapel Hill Christian Grade School in Akron, Ohio, where she taught kindergarten for 16 years before retiring in 1987 at age 70.
